MANILA — ECG accepted the challenge of Pope Francis to “reject every form of corruption which diverts resources from the poor.” According to its spokespersons, Atty. Melchor Magdamo (former Attorney VI in the Office of the Comelec Chairman) and Ka Leon Estrella Peralta (ECG Political & Alliance Affairs), the Comelec’s own CAMPAIGN FINANCE UNIT (CFU) has a database implicating approximately 80% of all of elective officials for violation of the law against election campaign over-spending. That means practically almost all incumbent elective officials have been taking resources away from the poor and then diverting them into the pockets of rich election law violators! We are actually run by disqualified elective officials, reasons for which they overspent in the last elections of 2010 and 2013.
Why has Comelec been delaying the resolution of its own cases versus election campaign over-spenders? So far Comelec has enforced that particular law against only one Governor in Laguna Province. Why did Comelec enforce the law selectively? Why not enforce the law equally to all offenders?
The ECG demands that Comelec must decide within 10 days from today (January 20, 2015) all cases on election over-spending. The 10-day countdown starts today.
Press conferences shall be held on January 20, 2015
and thereafter on herein main issue, other relative Comelec-election issues and
moral recovery programs to reject systemic corruption and greed in the
government espoused by End Comelec ‘Greed’ (ECG) Coalition.
